Metropolitan League Uxbridge 30th November

Today, I ran in the Metropolitan League at Uxbridge. The race was supposed to be 2 kilometres, but it turned out to be just 1.95 kilometres. I knew it was going to be tough because the course was very muddy, but I was ready to give it my best shot. As the race started, I got a good start, but I quickly realised I didn’t know what I had signed up for!

About a quarter of the way through the race, we came to a very steep hill. It was so difficult that even walking seemed faster than running! I pushed through as best as I could, but it took a lot of energy. After the hill, we faced some downhill sections, but they were just as tricky. The ground was paved, and I was wearing spikes, which made it hard to get a good grip. It felt dangerous at times, but I managed to stay steady.

The last part of the race took us through a forest, which added another challenge. Unfortunately, I made a wrong turn and ended up losing around 7 seconds and dropping 2 places in the race. I felt really frustrated because I had worked so hard to stay ahead, and now I had to fight to get my position back. I didn’t give up, though, and focused on catching up.

Thankfully, I managed to overtake the two boys who had passed me after my mistake. It felt amazing to finish strong and beat them in the end. My pace for the race was 3 minutes and 50 seconds per kilometre, which I was really happy with considering all the challenges on the course.

Even though the race was difficult, I felt proud of myself for pushing through. The mud, hills, and wrong turn made it tough, but they also made the race more exciting. I learned a lot from this experience, and I’m looking forward to my next race to see how much more I can improve.

Overall, it was a tough but rewarding day. Every race teaches me something new, and this one reminded me to always stay focused and never give up, no matter what challenges come my way
